US pressuring EU to recognize rogue Kosovo

United States State Department officials were pressuring Slovenia to recognize rogue Kosovo Muslim Albanian separatists days prior to Slovenia taking over the EU presidency, reports Slovenian daily Dnevnik.

According to the internal documents made public by Slovenia's political director in the Foreign Policy Ministry, Mitje Drobnic, Assistant Secretary of State in charge of European Affairs, Daniel Fried, pressured Slovenian officials to be the first to recognize Kosovo Albanian proclaimed independence and although "six EU member states will not recognize Kosovo in the beginning, but if at least 15 of 27 EU states recognize - it will be quite sufficient," Slovenian daily points Fried as saying.

Fried was also noted of saying that the Islamic world would be glad to recognize Kosovo after Slovenia's lead.

Saudi Arabia recently invited Kosovo Albanian Chief Imam Ternava to discuss Islamic support for the separatists in Kosovo. Kuwait also expressed its support to recognize Kosovo as another Islamic entity in Europe. Some analysts also note presence of al-Qaeda and other radical Islamists in this Serbian province.

Kosovo Albanian separatists have indicated that they are days away from a unilateral independence declaration.
