Hospital suspends Muslim doctor over alleged Islamic conversion attempts

A Muslim doctor has been suspended and reported to the Medical Council for allegedly trying to convert patients to Islam.
The doctor, who worked in a south county Dublin hospital, was suspended several months ago, following complaints from the mother of a 19-year-old female patient and a fellow member of staff.

The HSE’s Dymphna Bracken said: ‘‘Following complaints from the public and members of staff, a non-consultant hospital doctor has been placed on administrative leave.”

Britain's MI-5 (domestic intelligence service) has expanded its operations in the neighboring Irish Republic, after increased al Qaeda, and Islamic radical, activity was detected. Three Afghan men were recently arrested, in a room full of bomb making materials. There are dozens of similar suspects under surveillance. For the last three decades, Ireland and Britain have cooperated on domestic security issues, initially because of a mutual need to keep an eye on the IRA (Irish Republican Army) terrorists. The IRA has devolved into a criminal gang, but al Qaeda, and other Islamic radical groups have found Ireland a convenient place to hide out and plan their next atrocity.

Muslim headscarf rows hit Christian schools

Conflicts are developing in Irish schools over the wearing of the hijab, or headscarf, by Muslim pupils, it was disclosed yesterday.
The issue is a major challenge in faith-based schools where the headscarf is definitely not part of the standard school uniform.
The president of the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD) Aine O'Neill said that in some Christian faith-based schools, perhaps as much as a third of the students were not of the majority faith.
She was aware of some of her colleagues who were experiencing conflicts over religion in Christian schools where non-Christian students were enrolled.
"Unfortunately bullying has become part of the issue in some schools. Those of us who work with children know that a child who is different in some way to the majority is a target for bullies," she told an NAPD symposium on diversity in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.
Education sources said last night that her comments are the first public statement about conflicts over the hajib, the use of which has caused tensions in schools in the UK and France."
Ms O'Neill said the "new Irish" came from many and varied cultures. While language differences were obvious, less obvious were the multiple, diverse and contrasting social and religious customs the newcomers brought with them.
She noted that in Ireland there is no official policy on facilitating the integration of children from culturally diverse backgrounds.

"Will we see a situation where one school will allow or encourage cultural diversity and another will not? The Equal Status Act prohibits discrimination on nine grounds, one of which is race, and another is religion. We can't have schools which don't 'do' non-nationals, as we had schools in the past which didn't 'do' special needs students," she said.
She warned that if the Department did not provide official policy on this then each of the management bodies would be obliged to do so and "we may then add to the conflict rather than provide cohesion".
I think the Irish will fall inline & be good lil dhimmis...
At least moslems won't have to change things too much, green is one of Irelands colors...

Sinn Fein chief at secret talks between Shias and Sunnis

Secret talks between Iraqi Sunni and Shia groups ended yesterday after they heard from Martin McGuinness and former loyalist prisoners about making peace in Northern Ireland.
The former chief of staff of the Provisional IRA, who is now Deputy First Minister in Northern Ireland’s power-sharing executive, was one of 30 participants at the four-day seminar held at a secret location in Finland.
Organisers declined to say whether the meeting, attended by some 30 participants, helped to bring the two sides closer. But one source last night described the mood of the meeting as “guardedly optimistic”.
Meeri-Maria Jaarva, a spokeswoman for the conflict-prevention group Crisis Management Initiative, confirmed that the meeting was over, but declined to comment further.
The group, headed by the former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, convened the seminar together with the John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies of the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Mr Ahtisaari, who did not attend the meetings, said it was now up to the Iraqis whether they want to continue the process started in Finland, the Finnish state broadcaster YLE reported.
Mr Ahtisaari was a member of an international group that inspected Provisional IRA weapons dumps in Ireland before they were decommissioned.
Although organisers have declined to identify participants, representatives of the radical Shia cleric Hojatoleslam Moqtada al-Sadr; Adnan al-Dulaimi, the leader of the largest Sunni Arab political group; and Humam Hammoudi, the Shia chairman of the Iraqi Parliament’s Foreign Affairs committee, are reported to have attended the seminar.
From Northern Ireland, Mr McGuinness was accompanied by Leo Green, a former IRA hunger striker. Both men have also been involved in talks in the Spanish Basque Country and Sri Lanka.
Jeffrey Donaldson, of the Democratic Unionist Party and Billy Hutchinson, a former senior member of the Ulster Volunteer Force who served a lengthy prison sentence for murder, also attended. Mr Hutchinson went on to be elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly for the Progressive Unionist Party.

Woolmer 'may be fatwa victim'
PAKISTAN'S cricket coach Bob Woolmer may have been murdered after angering radical Muslims, according to a BBC investigation.
The Panorama TV show suggests some players followed the extremist Muslim movement, Tablighi Jamaat.
The claims come as preliminary toxicology tests confirm Woolmer was rendered helpless with a powerful poison before being strangled. According to the team's former media manager, PJ Mir, Woolmer shared his view that members of the squad were more interested in praying than playing.
Mr Mir claims it was this pre-occupation with religion that explained their poor World Cup result.
"Bob had his reservations that the boys, rather than focusing on the religious aspect, they ought to be focusing more on cricket."
"He wasn't particularly pleased when players were going out to say their prayers in the middle of the game and a substitute was coming in. He was totally against it," he said.
After the team was knocked out, Mr Mir's comments led to a fatwa being issued against him forcing him to flee Pakistan. He believes Woolmer may have faced the same fate.
"If Bob had said what I'd had said, I think there would have been a fatwa on him as well," Mr Mir said.

The other day Pakistan's Gen. Musharraf took time off from his hectic schedule of trying to survive assassination attempts to pay tribute to someone who, alas, had been less successful at dodging killers: A week ago, during the cricket World Cup, Bob Woolmer, the coach of the Pakistani national cricket team, was murdered in the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica, in what Scotland Yard's lead investigator called "extraordinary and evil circumstances."
"This nation will always remember him for the joys he brought into the lives of millions of Pakistanis," said Gen. Musharraf, awarding Woolmer posthumously the Star of Excellence. "The cricketing world and Pakistan, in particular, will find it extremely difficult to fill the void Bob's death has left behind."
Unless you're one of America's many cricket fans – pause for sound of crickets chirping – you probably didn't even notice this news. When Anna Nicole meets an untimely end in the Caribbean, there's 24/7 coverage. But in Pakistan, the West Indies, Britain and many other places, Bob Woolmer's death is Anna Nicole multiplied a gazillionfold. I was talking to a prominent London journalist in Chicago the other day when his cell phone rang, and he was told to hop on a plane to Kingston and get cracking on the murder.
"Whodunnit?" I asked.
"Russian Mafia," he said, already halfway down the corridor.
"Russian Mafia?" I echoed in disbelief. "That's not cricket."
But apparently it is. Whether or not any actual Russians are involved, rumors of a "match-fixing mafia" are running rampant around Jamaica. Just before the coach's murder, the Pakistani cricket team had lost to Ireland, which is a bit like the New York Yankees losing to my grandma.
Anyway, I thought of this strange death as I followed the rest of the week's news from Pakistan. Gen. Musharraf has had a good innings but stands at an ever lonelier wicket: He suspended the chief justice the other day; the biggest parliamentary faction, the Muslim League, has turned against him; so have the country's three warring intelligence agencies; and in the badlands up by the Afghan border more and more villages are being annexed by the Taliban, which the general doesn't mind terribly much but his friends in the White House do. In the Washington Post, Ahmed Rashid called for the general's retirement and "free and fair elections," which sounds very nice but would deliver Islam's only fully functioning nuclear state into the same kind of weak and corrupt administration as Musharraf's predecessor and be followed by the inevitable coup, or worse.
If you had to draw one of those organizational charts of the world's problems, Pakistan would be at the center of them. We speak of the northwestern tribal lands as some of the most remote places on Earth. But, in fact, when they wanted to, the Saudis had no problem getting to them, spreading a ton of walking-around money, and utterly transforming those villages. From the North-West Frontier Province, the Saudi money and Wahhabist ideology seeped through the country, into the mosques of the cities, radicalizing a generation of young Muslim men. From there it moved on to new outposts of the jihad, to Indonesia, Thailand and beyond. The flight routes from Pakistan to the United Kingdom are now the most important ideological conduit for radical Islam. The London bombers last summer were British subjects of Pakistani origin. Last week, two more were arrested in connection with the Tube bombings at Manchester Airport as they prepared to board a plane to Karachi.
Meanwhile, flying back from Karachi and Islamabad to Heathrow and Manchester are cousins, lots and lots of them. In his detailed study of the Mirpur district in Pakistan, Roger Ballard estimates that at least half and maybe up to two-thirds of those living in Britain of Mirpuri descent marry first cousins. This is a critical tool of reverse-assimilation: instead of being diluted over the generations, tribal identity is reinforced; in effect, Pakistani tribal lands are now being established in parts of northern England.
Which brings us back to the cricket World Cup, and a freakish murder after a bizarre Ireland victory and stories about a "match-fixing mafia." The civilized world sometimes forgets how thin the veneer of that civilization is: Many venerable, respectable institutions can be hollowed out from within by predators and opportunists. Outwardly, nothing much has changed. But underneath all kinds of other forces are at play, and, by the time you notice, it requires enormous will to reverse it.
Pakistan was never the most placid and stable polity but it's now riddled from top to toe, its worst pathologies amplified by Arab cash and ideology and the nuclear equivalent of a desktop-publishing boom: mysterious Sino-Pakistani technological transfers have recently been noticed through Kashmir.
Pakistan exports the fruit of its radical madrassahs in ideology and personnel to Britain and beyond. The mother country, like an elderly spinster, doesn't like to think ill of those nice young men in Manchester and Leeds and Oldham. We're all inclined to be deferential to multiculturalism these days: When imams get tossed off a flight in Minneapolis, it's easiest to tut-tut and demand sensitivity training for the cabin crew. The Quebec government, which mandates verifiable picture ID in order to vote, has just waived the requirement for Muslims: show up at the polls in a burqa or niqab and no one will be so insensitive as to insist on checking whether your face matches that on the driver's license.
And so it goes – creeping sharia, day by day, further insulating communities already prone to self-segregation, but nothing too big or startling to ruffle the scene. In Britain, the authorities can tell you (roughly) the number of jihadist cells and the support they command in the Muslim community. But doing anything about it is far more problematic. Wouldn't be cricket, old boy.

Dublin imam takes on the fanatics
A Muslim cleric is taking a stand against those who preach Islamic extremism in Ireland and think that the cult of the suicide bomber is noble
Beneath a basketball net in a freezing sports hall, a Muslim cleric is waging war on Islamic extremism.
Imam Shaheed Satardien is taking a stand against those Muslims in Ireland whom he claims are too sympathetic to Osama bin Laden and the cult of the suicide bomber. At Friday prayers in the sports hall in north-west Dublin, the South African-born former anti-apartheid activist warns his multinational congregation against blaming other religions and the West in general for all Muslims' ills.
Cast out by the majority Islamic community in Dublin for his outspokenness, the 50-year-old preacher says he has received death threats. 'I am standing firm in my beliefs,' Satardien says.
'The truth is more important than being popular or living a quiet life. Extremism has infected Islam in Ireland. It's time to get back to the spiritual aspect of my religion and stop it being used as a political weapon.'
The imam from Cape Town fled his native country following death threats, he says, from Islamic extremists in South Africa. His younger brother, Ibrahim, was shot dead in 1998 following a row with Islamic radicals in the city. When Satardien was told he would be next, he travelled to Ireland, the birthplace of his maternal grandmother, and pleaded for asylum.
'I never, ever, expected that Muslims would come under the influence of extremists in Ireland when I arrived here with my family. So I was shocked to find support for Osama bin Laden, to discover the presence of the Muslim Brotherhood and even al-Qaeda here in Dublin.'

Well it appears that moslems are not receptive to the preaching of a "moderate' imam both in South Africa and in Ireland...That should say a lot to the infidels, unfortunately since they have chosen the "dhimmi coma" they are not about to really think on it...

Imam Shaheed Satardien is taking a stand against those Muslims in Ireland whom he claims are too sympathetic to Osama bin Laden and the cult of the suicide bomber. At Friday prayers in the sports hall in north-west Dublin, the South African-born former anti-apartheid activist warns his multinational congregation against blaming other religions and the West in general for all Muslims' ills.
Cast out by the majority Islamic community in Dublin for his outspokenness, the 50-year-old preacher says he has received death threats. 'I am standing firm in my beliefs,' Satardien says.
'The truth is more important than being popular or living a quiet life. Extremism has infected Islam in Ireland. It's time to get back to the spiritual aspect of my religion and stop it being used as a political weapon.'
The imam from Cape Town fled his native country following death threats, he says, from Islamic extremists in South Africa. His younger brother, Ibrahim, was shot dead in 1998 following a row with Islamic radicals in the city. When Satardien was told he would be next, he travelled to Ireland, the birthplace of his maternal grandmother, and pleaded for asylum.
'I never, ever, expected that Muslims would come under the influence of extremists in Ireland when I arrived here with my family. So I was shocked to find support for Osama bin Laden, to discover the presence of the Muslim Brotherhood and even al-Qaeda here in Dublin.'

Ireland appoints Muslim to European anti-racism body
DUBLIN • Ireland said yesterday it had appointed a member of the country's small but growing Muslim community to be its representative on the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance.
Mazhar Ali Bari replaces former government minister Chris Flood on the ECRI, a body of the Council of Europe.
"I am delighted that Dr Bari has accepted this role," Justice Minister Michael McDowell said in a statement.
"He comes to ECRI with a wealth of experience and ideas and I am confident that he will perform his role with the same dedication and energy that he has shown in his contribution to the implementation of the National Action Plan Against Racism."
The ECRI aims to combat racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism and intolerance at a pan-European level, from the angle of protecting human rights.
Bari is a member of the boards of the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism and of the Muslim National School in Dublin.
He is also a member of the executive committee of the Association of Pakistanis in Ireland and a member of the Ireland Pakistan Business Council. A physicist, he has recently established a technology company.
Ireland's Muslims are one of the republic's fastest-growing religious groups, mainly as a result of immigrants attracted by job opportunities in the so-called Celtic Tiger economy.
