The hard facts on 'soft power'

The success of China's foreign and trade policies is hard to argue with, especially as US belligerence continues to sap its own strength and global influence. But look beyond the rhetoric about China's "peaceful rise" and "non-interference" and one sees a familiar picture: a great power enriching itself (and the brutal dictatorships it deals with) with little regard for anyone else.
