MEN with the same name as a Danish cartoonist who satirised the Prophet Mohammed have been placed under police protection after receiving death threats.
There are 81 people in Denmark called Kurt Westergaard, the name of a cartoonist who received threats over his caricature of the Muslim prophet with his head in a turban that looked like a bomb with a lit fuse.
One namesake, a businessman in the town of Aabenraa, has received anonymous calls from people "speaking Danish with a foreign accent who threatened to kill me and kidnap my family".
"The worst thing is they also called my three children, who are all under 15 years old. We're afraid that they will be snatched on the street," he added.
Denmark's PET intelligence service has placed several Kurt Westergaards under protection, the paper reported.
