Euro-gangs financing north African Al Qaida network
CAIRO — Morocco's intelligence community has concluded that an Al Qaida network received hundreds of thousands of euros from criminal gangs in Belgium and other European Union states. They said the gangs relayed funds from bank robberies and Internet scams conducted throughout Europe.
"Most of the funding for and orders to this cell came from Europe," an official said. "The links are very clear."
