EU and Arab League discuss cooperation prospects
Brussels, 11 Feb. (AKI) - European Union external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner is attending the EU-Arab League Ministerial meeting taking place on Malta Monday and Tuesday, the European Commission announced.
The meeting brings together the 22 Arab League countries and the EU to discuss "common challenges and to envisage concrete and pragmatic cooperation activities," the Commission said in a statement.
"Arab countries are the neighbourhood of the European Union," said Ferrero-Waldner.
"We face common challenges ranging from peace and stability in the Middle East and the fight against terrorism, to climate change, trade integration, security of energy supplies, and encouraging inter-cultural dialogue," said Ferrero Waldner.
