Woman ‘suicide bomber’ held
Turkish police detained a suspected woman suicide bomber in possession of 11.3kg (about 25 lb) of plastic explosives in the southern city of Adana, the local governor said.
The arrest came a day after a suicide bomber suspected of belonging to a separatist Kurdish rebel group blew himself up in a commercial district in Ankara, the capital, killing six others and wounding a hundred. The governor of Adana, Ilhan Atis, told the Anatolia news agency that police, acting on a tip-off, detained a woman who tried to flee when officers stopped her vehicle. Her bag contained the explosives, two grenades and twelve detonators.
