Rebel: Bin Laden still alive

KABUL, Afghanistan, May 14 The leader of an insurgent group in Afghanistan said he believes al Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is alive but lying low.

"I also believe that it is good that he does not appear in the media and that it is wise that no statements or tapes are issued even after a long while," said Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in a video broadcast Monday on Al-Arabiya television, Alalam Satellite TV reported. Hekmatyar, a former Afghan prime minister, leads an anti-American rebel group in southern Afghanistan.
