Supreme Leader advises students to develop Basij spirit

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that the spirit of Basij (volunteer forces) is the key for strengthening of the Iranian people and their resolve to make progress.

In a meeting with several thousands of student members of Basij, the Supreme Leader said that the Basij is example of strong determination and initiatives for standing up to the hegemonic powers.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that services rendered by the Basij members to the Iranian nation in the course of Iraqi-imposed war (1980-1988) have encouraged political awareness among developing nations.

The Supreme Leader said that the Basij students are symbol of bravery, because while learning science at the academic centers, they also think about defending the Islamic Revolution, citing membership of the volunteer forces in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

The IRGC served as the command council of 20 million Basij forces during the eight-year US-backed imposed war on Iran.

The Supreme Leader said that the Basij has made great achievements in the field of defense of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ayatollah Khamenei recommended the students to focus on theoretical studies and develop theses away from political affiliations to deal with problems of the nation.

The Supreme Leader said that the nation has exercised sense of commitment to deal with different problems in the past 27 years adding that there is no a single dark point in perspective of Iran thanks to the Basij spirit prevailing among the nation.

Referring to cultural and political power of the Islamic Revolution, the Supreme leader said that the Islamic Revolution has caused a political explosion in the world stronger than the bomb the US dropped over Hiroshima.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the US is dealing with international matters in a domineering manner so that even the Europeans cannot object, but, the Iranian nation and the Muslims have brought US politics under question.

Elsewhere in his address the Supreme Leader said that resurrection of the nations in Palestine, Lebanon, Latin America and different parts of the world are the outcome of the sacrifices of the great nation during the US-backed imposed war thanks to leadership of the late Imam Khomeini.
