Sextet talks must continue, if Iran rejects proposals - Rice
MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - The countries of the sextet on Iran will continue consultations, if Iran rejects the conditions offered in efforts to settle the nuclear problem, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said.
In a Sunday interview with NTV channel she reiterated that Iran has the right to a peaceful nuclear program.
Rice said that the problem was uranium enrichment that could lead to the production of nuclear arms. The IAEA has questions, which, unfortunately, remain unanswered from the Iranian government, she said.
Rice said that the United States, Russia, China and E3 countries (Germany, France and Britain) were working on ways to resolve the Iranian problem.
The group had developed a plan that was proposed to Iran, and if Iran accepts the plan and stops uranium enrichment, Tehran will be offered various privileges in trade, commerce and support in its efforts in civilian nuclear power engineering, she said.
Rice emphasized that the United States and Russia have been cooperating very closely on the issue.
