Iran attack likely: Expert

MOSCOW: A Russian expert predicted the US will launch a war against Iran in June considering certain factors that determine such a military operation.
"In case the US unleashes air strikes against Iran, the Bushehr nuclear reactor will not be damaged as per Russian assessments," he added.
The expert, who declined to be named, added that the Bushehr nuclear reactor is purely civil and has no strategic significance to the Iranian nuclear programme, forecasting that the military operation against Iran could be more difficult compared to Iraq and Afghanistan.
He cited "Iranian generals are less corrupt. Hence, the same tactics which were exercised in Iraq could not be applicable to them."
Alexander Konovalov, Chairman of the Strategic Assessment Institute in Moscow, reiterated that Iran is looking for a conflict "so there is no need to provoke it. A new proposal should be worked out."
He thinks that the potential strike against Iran will offer a boost as "it will enable the Iranian leadership to consolidate their grip on power and unite the country," adding that the sanctions would not spur Iran to take positive actions.
Konovalov said that Iran was looking forward to confrontation and not for concessions from the international community.
