Mosque 'grooms suicide bombers'
A ruling Pakistani coalition party claimed in a report released Monday that Islamic students linked with a radical mosque in the Pakistani capital Islamabad are being indoctrinated and trained to mount suicide attacks.
The mosque, called the Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, and two affiliated madrassas (religious schools) also amassed an arsenal ranging from Kalashnikov assault rifles to rocket-propelled grenades, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said based on what it called "unbiased research," IANS reported Monday.
"They also think that in case of their martyrdom in suicidal attacks they will be welcomed by hooris (virgins) with garlands in their hands and they will have entry into the heaven without accountability," the party's report said. Eyewitnesses independently testified to seeing automatic weapons on the premises, while members of a terrorist group with a history of bombings joined the mosque's backers, the report said.
Pakistani media reported that leaders and members of the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad jihadi organization, which is accused of mounting terrorist attacks in Kashmir and India, arrived at the mosque to defend it against security forces.
