Muslim convert plotted with foreigners in town, unsealed indictment says

The other two Columbus men accused of hatching al-Qaida plots in a local coffee shop were immigrants from Somalia and Pakistan.

But the third one, arrested this week, was homegrown in Worthington, although many who know Christopher Paul were surprised to learn he is an American.

Paul, 43, who now lives on the North Side, had his initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Columbus yesterday. A 1983 Worthington High School graduate, he is accused of joining al-Qaida and training terrorists to make bombs for attacks on Americans in Europe.
