Muslim Radiologist Files $30 Million Lawsuit Against Hospital
BALTIMORE (AP) - A Muslim man from Waldorf has filed a 30 million dollar lawsuit against the University of Maryland Medical Center after he got kicked out performing a pre-prayer washing ritual.
Sixty-one-year-old Mohammed Hussein, who himself is a radiologist, was scheduled to have surgery at the Baltimore hospital. The lawsuit says he was washing his hands and feet in the way required for Muslims before they pray when a guard came into the bathroom and told him to ``leave, or else.''
Hussein's attorney says that his client treats cancer and saves people's lives but was treated like a criminal.
A statement from the hospital says they are disappointed in the lawsuit since they tried to reach out to him after the incident.
