DAR AL HARB - U.K.: SEE WHAT ISLAM CAN DO FOR YOU

Muslim message is full of goodness

THERE are many lessons that we can learn from the public and personal lives of the Prophet Muhammad.

That was among the key messages given to more than 200 people who attended a conference at the city’s Islamic Centre. The environment, and how each of us have to do our bit to safeguard it, was also top of the agenda.

Dr Zahid Pervez quoted the Prophet’s teaching that water should not be wasted, “even if you are next to a river”.

He talked about how Peterborough Muslims can show fellow Britons the beauty of his message in order to bring about a respectful, crime-free society filled with human kindness, compassion and mercy at its core.

Duties and responsibilities to one another were more important than demanding rights from each other, he told an audience of mostly familes.

City resident and organiser of the event, Hameed Choudhury, said it was very successful.

He said: “It was well attended by people from all communities. The event ended with a performance by dozens of children who got on the stage for a sing-along of the famous Arabic song Tala al-Badru alaina and Mercy Like the Rain.

“People I spoke to afterwards said it was a very worthwhile experience.”
