DAR AL ISLAM - PAKISTAN: A NEW 'RADAR' AVOIDING MISSILE INCREASES RANGE FROM 500KM TO 700KM, TESTED

Enhanced range cruise missile tested

ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 (APP): Pakistan carried out a successful test fire of indigenously developed cruise missile Babur (Hatf-VII) on Thursday. “The flight data collected, validated the design parameters set for the flight test.” The Babur, which was first tested in 2005, is a terrain hugging, radar avoiding cruise missile and its range has now been enhanced to 700 kms from 500 km.


It is a highly maneuverable missile with pin-point accuracy. Babur is capable of carrying a variety of warheads including nuclear.

The test was witnessed by the chairman joint chiefs of staff committee General Ehsan ul Haq, senior military officers and scientists of the strategic organizations.

The test is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts at consolidating its strategic capability and strengthening national security.
