Syria apprehended truck with Iraqi plates carrying weapons to Lebanon
UNITED NATIONS, March 21 (KUNA) -- Syria on Wednesday said its authorities apprehended a truck bearing Iraqi license plates carrying contraband weapons that were on their way to Lebanon.
In a letter to Security Council President, South Africa, in reaction to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's latest report on resolution 1701, Syrian UN envoy Bashar Ja'afari said Syria acted in compliance with that resolution and in the framework of its close monitoring of the Syrian-Lebanese border to ensure that no weapons are smuggled into Lebanon.
The letter gave no date as to when the truck was apprehended or any other details about the size of the shipment.
