Muslims altered reality to meet their own needs
I always wondered why no one mentioned that the Dome of the Rock and the Al Asqa mosque are on top of the Jews' holiest site. It seems only Muslims are sensitive about the structures. Right now, they are engaging in the usual Muslim pastime of hyperventilating over Israel's latest actions near them. They are condemning the Jews' efforts to improve a ramp, saying the Zionists are undermining them. Sure, the Dome of the Rock is where Mohammed was spirited to heaven during his "night journey." But did the mosque that commemorated it have to be right on top of the holiest of holies, where Jewish priests conversed with God?
Only recently I found out why Muslims, whose qiblas (prayer direction) used to be toward that spot during Mohammed's lifetime did not have a problem desecrating the most important site of the "People of the Book" (as Jews and Christians are called). In an official Hadith (saying of Mohammed), he said Solomon built it 40 years after the first mosque was built in Mecca. Solomon lived during 1000 B.C. Mohammed recited the Quran during the 600s A.D. How could this be?
Solomon and all the Old Testament prophets are considered Muslims, because they "submitted" to God (which is the definition of Islam). Ipso facto, the temples they built had to be mosques. The second temple, rebuilt after the Babylonian captivity, is also considered a mosque by Muslims. So it only made sense to them to build a third mosque after they conquered Jerusalem.
Amazing how easily one alters reality to suit one's needs.
