DAR AL HARB - U.S.A. - ARKANSAS: IRAN'S NUCLEAR JIHAD

Iran's Nuclear Jihad
by Lucas Roebuck

The international community, represented by the United Nations Security Council, must drop the hammer on Iran for its nuclear defiance, and the hammer must be dropped quickly and hard. Iran’s act of war in capturing 15 British sailors and marines is a test to see where the world resolve is in light of the Security Council’s unanimous vote to sanction Iran last week.

Iran wants to know if the Council is serious, or if it plans on assaulting the Islamic Republic with toothless resolution upon resolution, like it did on Iraq for many years. Of course, it took American resolve to finally hold Saddam Hussein accountable for his defiance. Iran has placed its bets on the Democrats, its de facto ally in Washington, to keep the United States from curbing the Iranian quest for nuclear power until it is too late.

I would like to think that Iran — and its other de facto alliance with the Islamic jihad — could be negotiated with. But we know that is wishful thinking. The European Union, not exactly the bastion of pro-American homogeny right now, has attempted and failed to use carrots to get Iran to end its quest for nukes. The European Union, unfortunately, has failed.

The time has come to put away the carrots; the time has come to get out the sticks.

What would the United States have to do to placate the Islamofacists nation-states like Iran and their terrorist partners ? What would soothe the religious zeal which persuades young men that inflicting pain on America is worth their individual self-extermination ?

Some argue that if we withdrew U. S. troops from Iraq, then the Islamic radicals would be happy and leave us alone. People who believe that withdrawal from Iraq will do anything to quell violent, fundamental Islam are willfully ignorant. First of all, Islamic violence toward the United States and her allies goes back to at least the Carter administration. Most notable is the bombing of the USS Cole, the U. S. embassy bombings, the first attempt on the World Trade Center during the Clinton administration, and then the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks — just to name a few of the strikes against America by Islamic jihadists. All of these happened before the United States deposed Saddam Hussein, who himself was hated by half of the Islamic world.

Spain mistakenly believed that it made peace with Islamic jihad by pulling its troops out of Iraq after it had its own tragic version of Sept. 11 when, on March 11, 2004, 191 Spaniards were killed after Islamic terrorists planted for bombs on busy trains. Unfortunately, Spain only showed weakness that the Islamic fascists continue to exploit, now that they know that Spain can be bullied. According to a March 10 article in the Los Angeles Times, the jihadists still aren’t happy with the Iberian Peninsula nation.

“ It is undoubtedly true that Spain is much more of a target today than before, ” Fernando Reinares, former terrorism advisor to the (Spanish ) Interior Ministry and senior analyst at the Elcano Royal Institute, said in an interview. He cited the combination of the renewed Al Qaeda threats and what he called the “ synergy” between Al Qaeda and the Maghreb (local Islamic terror ) groups, the Times reported.

Pleased with the success of the March 11 bombings to get Spain out of Iraq, Al Qaeda now wants Spain to stop its troop support in Afghanistan and even its support of the United Nations.
Even if the United States pulled out of Iraq and Afghanistan, withdrew from the United Nations, and turned on Israel and drove the Jewish nation into the sea with our own troops, the Islamic jihadists would still not be happy.

The Islamic jihadists, both the terror organizations and the extremists states, want only one thing: To dominate the globe with a strict Islamic code, to bend the will of every human being on earth to the draconian teachings of Islam and the Koran, or at least how they interpret it.

The more the Western world shows weakness, the more Islamic jihad will exploit those weaknesses. They will use everything to their advantage, from using children to shield military targets to using our open societies to undermine us from the inside.

This is a no-holds barred fight for the future of the world, and right now the Western world has a huge military and economic advantage against the jihadists. But through Western capitulation and inaction, the jihad has gained great strength. We cannot placate the jihadists anymore than we could have placated Hitler.

If we do not prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons, we will rue the cost of not pressing our advantage while we still had one.
