Muslim expo comes to Brisbane
A FEDERAL initiative designed to bridge the gap between Australia's Muslim and non-Muslim communities will be held in Brisbane tomorrow.
The free symposium and expo on Queensland's Muslims will be staged at the Mercure Hotel, and will feature a range of speakers and activities showcasing the achievements and contributions members of the Muslim community have made to society.
It will also focus on the challenges facing the next generation of Muslims in Queensland.
A joint initiative of the Islamic Council of Queensland and the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the expo is one of several being held in capital cities around the country in the next few months.
The first - held recently in Melbourne - was attended by several hundred people.
The series of events will culminate with a national expo and symposium in Canberra in August.
"It's all about getting different communities together and participating towards a common good," event manager Mustafa Ally (Mustafa Ally) said.
"Everyone is welcome to learn about each other."
