Iraq Calls for Iran's Support

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iraq's Health Minister Ali al-Shammari called on Iran to transfer its experiences and assist Baghdad in hospital construction, drug and medical equipment supply, disease management and revision of health and treatment systems.

Al-Shammari made the demand during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Kamran Bagheri Lankarani here in Tehran on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Lankarani expressed regret over the recent incidents in Iraq, and reminded Iran's cooperation with Iraq in the treatment of those wounded during the recent incidents in that country.

He further reminded that Iran can provide Iraqi people with health and treatment facilities, medical equipment and drug production lines, hospital construction, and campaign against malnutrition and disease management. Lankarani also voiced preparedness of the Iranian governmental and private sectors for cooperating with Baghdad in the said grounds.

The minister also said that Iran can provide medical and treatment services to the Iraqi citizens at its medical centers at the two countries' shared borders, particularly in the two border provinces of Khuzestan and Kermanshah.

He called for the establishment of specialized committees to help develop the two countries' mutual cooperation in the sphere of health and treatment.
