DAR AL ISLAM - HAMAS: FRENCH & RUSSIAN DHIMMIS RECEIVE PRAISE FROM THEIR MOSLEM OVERLORDS FROM HAMAS

Hamas praises French, Russian support of Mecca agreement

GAZA, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Youssef Rezqa, Information Minister of the Hamas-led Palestinian government praised on Tuesday "the French and Russian support of Mecca agreement to form a Palestinian national unity government."

In a press statement, Rezqa noted that French President Jacques Chirac had called on the international community to support Mecca agreement, while highly valued Russia's stance that called for dealing with the reality and with Hamas.

Leaders of the rival Palestinian movements of Fatah and Hamas agreed in Saudi Arabia's Mecca last week to form a national unity government and rebuild the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO),in order to enable all Islamic and national factions to join its executive committee.

Rezqa, meanwhile, praised efforts made by Arab countries to lift international embargo on Palestinians.

"We highly appreciate the Egyptian-Saudi-Jordanian efforts to pressure on the international community to lift the imposed embargo on the Palestinian people," said Rezqa.

Hamas, which won in the last legislative elections held in January last year, formed a government in late March.

However, this government failed to improve the political, security and economical conditions in the Palestinian territories due to an embargo imposed by international donors and a siege imposed by Israel on the government and on the Palestinian territories.

Following a wave of violence between Hamas and President Abbas' Fatah movement, the two sides reached an agreement in Mecca last week to form a new coalition government in a bid to end the siege and embargo.
