MK Shalom slams Olmert for silence over 'Mecca farce'
Knesset Member Silvan Shalom (Likued) said on Saturday that he expects of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to issue a statement "similar to the one issued by the Quartet in reponse to the Palestinian agreement in Mecca.
"It is curious that the PM chooses to remain silent over such an incredible farce. Is this consent-by-silence which will lead to future dialog with the new government?" asked MK Shalom.

Olmert: We've made clear to Europe we won't accept Mecca deal
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office stated on Saturday evening that during the weekend Israel made it very clear to the leaders of Western Europe that it does not accept the unity agreement forged in Mecca between Hamas and Fatah and that it hopes that the Quartet will also reject the agreement until the terms set by the international community are met by the Palestinians.
The government will discuss the Mecca agreement on Sunday; though it still remains unclear if there will be any vote on the matter. The government ministers will also be briefed on the situation in East Jerusalem and near the Temple Mount.
