Aligarh Muslim University students go on rampage
Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 25 : Thousands of students of the Aligarh Muslim University went on a rampage protesting the battering of two of their fellow students by a property dealer.
The incident was sparked off after a worker in a property dealers office manhandled two students of the AMU, over a minor motorcycle accident.
Agitating students of AMU later burned several shops and motorcycles including one of the property dealer.
"They ransacked the police post. They burned everything. They burned motorcycles," said, Shambu Dayal, In-charge, Police post, medical Road, Aligarh.
Police and Paramilitary Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel resorted to baton charge and tear gas to disperse the students.
The disturbances lasted for over four hours, leaving 21 students and seven policemen injured.
