Quebec town offers apology to female Muslim immigrants
Herouxville hosts Montreal group to discuss new approach to Islam

HEROUXVILLE, Que. -- A small group of Muslim women was given largely a warm reception when they dropped in Sunday to a Quebec town that passed divisive guidelines for immigrants.
Bearing gifts, nine Muslim women from Montreal paid a visit to Herouxville, which is at the centre of the province's ''reasonable accommodation'' debate.

Well-educated, poised and speaking flawless French, the women were mostly immigrants from Arab countries or immigrants who had grown up in Montreal.

To avoid provocation the two sides worked out the details beforehand. Officials in Herouxville, 165 km northeast of Montreal, wanted to apologize for any hurt they caused Muslims with their controversial ''ban'' last month on public stonings and female circumcisions.

The declaration was part of a much-publicized series of guidelines the town council devised to alert prospective immigrants to its egalitarian values.

Sunday, under threat by some Muslim groups of being dragged before the Quebec Human Rights Commission, the town's leaders changed tack. By welcoming the women wearing hijabs, ''we want to show we're not racist,'' said Herouxville councillor Andre Drouin, the man behind the resolutions.

About the hijab, he confided: ''It doesn't bother me. I think (the women) are kind of cute in them, don't you?''

The women said they aren't oppressed and they share the town's condemnation of extremism.

They also said Quebecers should have nothing to fear from the way they practice their religion.

LOLOL...Quebecers shouldn't be afraid about how moslems practice their religion...So I guess they shouldn't be afraid of shouts of ALLAHU ACKBAR as infidels get their heads chopped off?!?

Or they shouldn't be afraid of shouts of ALLAHU ACKBAR as fully loaded & fueled jet planes smash into highrise buildings?!?

Or they shouldn't be afraid of moslems 'martyr' operations when moslems jihadists blow themselves up, not only ripping themselves to pieces but sending ball bearings, shrapnel, etc., 360 degrees shredding everything and everyone around them...

WOOO HOOOOO LET THEM PRACTICE ISLAM & INFIDEL'S SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID AT ALL ! ! !
