DAR AL ISLAM- MOROCCO & IRAN: MOROCCO WANTS CLOSER TIES WITH IRAN

Morocco calls for enhanced ties with Iran

Moroccan Deputy Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fahri in Rabat on Tuesday called for strengthening of brotherly relations and political dialogue with Iran.

He made the call during talks with Iran's newly appointed Ambassador to Morocco Vahid Ahmadi, who called on him to submit a copy of his credentials in the absence of the foreign minister, who is currently on a visit abroad.

Remarking on the two countries' geo-strategic and economic position, he called for maximum use of their potentials to expand ties.

"Iran has played a significant role in global affairs over the past centuries, he said, and expressed hope Tehran will continue to boost its cooperation with countries in the international community.

He said the Moroccon king was keenly interested in promoting interaction between the Iranian and Moroccan peoples and encouraging dialogue among religious institutions which he believes can effectively promote Islam and bridge the gap between Shi'ites and Sunnis.

He said Morocco's desire to promote dialogue between the Iranian and Moroccan nations and between religious institutions shows its firm belief Tehran has an active role to play in establishing regional and global peace and security.

Well it appears that Morocco knows which way the winds are blowing and that Iran's influence is growing and the influence wielded by the United States, in the region, is in decline...
