U.S. army kills 6 militants hiding in building owned by MP
BAGHDAD, Jan 1 (KUNA) - The U.S. Army said on Monday its troops killed 6 "terrorists" who were hiding at a building owned by leader of National Dialogue Front and member of Iraqi parliament Saleh al-Motlaq in Baghdad.
According to a military statement of which KUNA received a copy, the coalition forces killed six terrorists and arrested another one during a fierce gun battle in the Iraqi capital city.
The terrorists used the site as a possible safe haven for al-Qaeda Organization in Iraq, the statement quoted intelligence reports as saying.
While approaching the targeted building, the forces came under heavy fire and hand grenade attacks from several nearby buildings and were forced to return fire killing six terrorists and arresting another. The coalition forces identified later on a building, also owned by al-Motlaq, which was used for launching attacks with heavy weapons against the forces, it added.
The National Dialogue Front did not comment on the battle so far.
