DAR AL ISLAM - IRAN: PRIME DIRECTIVE OF THE IRANIAN FOREIGN POLICY IS PEACE IN IRAQ & AFGHANISTAN, NO PERMANENT PRESENCE IN THE REGION FOR THE U.S.A.

Establishment of regional security a priority of Iranian foreign policy: MP

Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi said here Tuesday that an Iranian strategic policy is to help in the reconstruction and restoration of peace and tranquility to Iraq and Afghanistan.

His remarks were made at a meeting with the visiting Singaporean Parliament Speaker Abdullah Tarmugi, who arrived here Monday for an official three-day visit.

In the meeting, Boroujerdi said Iran is committed to the establishment of security and stability in the region and gives it priority in its foreign policy.

Describing the situation in the region as "sensitive," he said that the US should know that the region is not a place where it can can have a permanent presence.

Alluding to the dire situation in the two afore-stated countries, he underscored the need for an urgent withdrawal of US forces from the region.

The White House has admitted its failures in the region and, therefore, it should compensate for its mistakes, he said.

Pointing to the raid by US forces of Iran's consulate in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil, Boroujerdi stressed that the move will put the US in a more difficult situation.

As to Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, he said it was the legal right of the Iranian nation to produce fuel it needs for its nuclear power plants.

The MP then voiced Tehran's readiness to resolve current nuclear issues through negotiation.
