China Stresses Iran's Opposition to N. Proliferation
TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Chinese Ambassador to Tehran underlined the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities, and further stressed that the Islamic Republic has always been opposed to the proliferation of nuclear arms.
Speaking in a meeting with the governor general of Iran's Semnan Province here on Saturday, he reminded that Chinese President Hu Jintao in a meeting with Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani on Friday has also reiterated the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities.
"Chinese government believes that Iran's nuclear activities serve peaceful purposes and that the Islamic Republic is certainly opposed to the proliferation of the nuclear weapons in the region," the diplomat continued.
He further called for the settlement of Iran's nuclear standoff through multilateral talks, and reiterated that the issues and differences existing in Iran's nuclear case should be settled down merely through "amicable ties and negotiations".
Describing Iran-China ties a symbol of the two nations' friendship and cordial ties, the envoy expressed the hope that the US President George W. Bush would understand Tehran-Beijing bilateral friendship.
"No country can make other states give in to its devilish wills and ambitions through practicing force, aggression and intervention in their domestic affairs," he underscored.
