DAR AL ISLAM - IRAN: 38 U.N. INSPECTORS BARRED FROM IRAN

Iran denies entry to 38 UN nuclear inspectors

TEHRAN: Iran has barred 38 inspectors on a UN list from entering the country, the foreign minister said Monday in what appeared to be retaliation for the UN sanctions imposed last month.

Iran rejected the officials on a list of potential inspectors drawn up by the International Atomic Energy Agency to carry out visits to Iran's nuclear facilities. Others on the list remain eligible.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki did not explain the criteria for barring the inspectors but said, "the act of rejecting some inspectors is legal and in accordance with the agency's regulations."

"The International Atomic Energy Agency submits a long list of inspectors to member countries and the countries have the right to oppose the visit by some inspectors," Mottaki told the official Islamic Republic News Agency.
