Afghanistan to introduce new education system, syllabus

KABUL: Afghan Minister for Higher Education Muhammad Hanif Akbar has said that new education system and syllabus would be introduced under the Islamic principals.

He gave details of news education system in his meeting with an Ulema delegation in Kabul on the other day, according to Radio Azadi.

Ulema from all thirty-four provinces of the country attended the meeting. Earlier, some Ulema criticized the prevalent education system and termed it as against Islam.

The education minister announced that construction work of religious schools have been launched in Kandahar, Helmand, Bamyan and Paktika provinces.


Hanif Akbar and others are perfectly within the framework of the new Afghan constitution which says that Islam is the "law of the land"...No one can claim that what they are planning is unconstitutional, not even the United States of America that freed Afghanistan from the Taliban and created a Shari'ah Ruled State in its place...

Chapter I The State

Article 1 [Islamic Republic] Afghanistan is an Islamic Republic, independent, unitary and indivisible state.

Article 2 [Religions]

(1) The religion of the state of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is the sacred religion of Islam.

(2) Followers of other religions are free to exercise their faith and perform their religious rites within the limits of the provisions of law.

Article 3 [Law and Religion] In Afghanistan, no law can be contrary to the beliefs and provisions of the sacred religion of Islam.
