U.S. to issue report on Iranians in Iraq

The United States will release a report on alleged actions by Iranian agents inside Iraq to further justify the use of lethal force against them.

U.S. officials said the report will contain the specifics behind the controversial detention of a group of five Iranians by American forces in northern Iraq, the Washington Post said Saturday.

The detention of the five was defended as a reaction to mounting evidence that Iran has been supplying material assistance to Iraqi insurgents who are behind continuing attacks on U.S. troops and Iraqi civilians. In response, Washington has given the green light to the capture or even killing of Iranians deemed to be helping terrorist elements.
