DAR AL HARB-U.K.: A NEW MOSLEM PRESSURE GROUP

Muslim group launch
Jan 2 2007

A branch of the People's Muslim League (PML) has been launched for Burton.

A packed meeting of PML members from across the country attended the launch event at The Grill Restaurant in Derby.

They welcomed the former Prime Minister of Azad and Jammu Kashmir, barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhary, now leader of the PML, a newly-formed political party.

Prominent members of the local Kashmiri community were approved as officers of the new Burton branch.

Those appointed are Chaudhary Mohammed Arif (chief organiser), Chaudhary Mohammed Younis (president), Mumtaz Khan (general secretary), Malik Mohammed Latif (treasurer) and Chaudhary Mohammed Jamil (Press officer).

The launch of the Burton branch followed a successful People's Muslim League convention in London, attended by thousands of British Kashmiris from across the UK. Mr Jamil said it was vital to ensure that Sultan Mahmood Chaudhary continued to enjoy the full confidence and support of all British Kashmiris.

This would allow the PML leader to continue to highlight the plight of the Kashmiri people in the long-running dispute between India and Pakistan so that a lasting resolution-could be found based on the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
