London Mayor apologies to the city's Jews
LONDON (EJP)--- London Mayor Ken Livingstone has apologised for “causing offence” following a number of public spates with the Jewish community.
Speaking at the launch of the London Jewish Forum (LJF) at City Hall on Thursday, the mayor said: “If I’ve caused any offence to anyone in the past, I apologise, it was never my intention. It was never a calculated intention to cause offence.”
Repeating his apology he requested: “If I do it again, please pick up the phone and tell me rather than go to the Standards Board, and cost thousands of pounds, as we are and we should be friends and we should be able to work together. So if we have a problem lets deal with it over the phone.
“I look forward to working with you over the months and yeas to come to really build a strong and vibrant Jewish community and seeing it grow in this city and play a full role in making this city the greatest on earth.”
