RUSSIA: NEO-SOVIETS OFFER THE Mi-28NE "NIGHT HUNTER" OR AS N.A.T.O. CALLS IT "HAVOC" TO ISLAMOFREAKS IN THE MIDDLE EAST

RUSSIA OFFERS NEW HELICOPTER TO MIDEAST

MOSCOW [MENL] -- Russia has offered a new attack helicopter to Middle East clients.
The Rostov Helicopter Production Complex, or Rostvertol, has displayed the export version of the Mi-28N. Rostvertol has briefed military delegations from Iran and Syria at the recent China-2006 air show in China.

"The Rostvertol is active in the serial-production program for the Mi-28NE," Rostvertol deputy director-general Vadim Barannikov said. "Today, we are offering the Mi-28NE for the supply to China and other countries."

The Mi-28NE has been deemed Night Hunter, and NATO has dubbed the aircraft Havoc. Executives said the attack helicopter, meant to replace the Mi-24, underwent Russian Army acceptance tests in September 2006 and marked an advanced variant meant for night operations.
