POL-OIC-EMERGENCY-PALESTINE Islamic countries to break Israel's siege on Palestinian people
JEDDAH, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- Member countries of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) decided on Saturday to break the Israeli-imposed siege on the Palestinian people and to launch an international action to end the blockade.
A statement issued at the end of the OIC Executive Committee emergency session here today welcomed the United Nations Human Rights Council's overwhelming resolution of last Wednesday which called for an end to Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
The OIC's Executive Committee, grouping Qatar, Malaysia, Senegal, Yemen, Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, held its decision to convene the session following a telephone conversation between the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and OIC Secretary General Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
The OIC called for a quick implementation of articles of the UN resolution and the sending of a high ranking interantional fact finding committee to investigate last week's massacre committed by the Israeli forces in Beit Hanoun in the Gaza Strip as well as other Israeli crimes in the Palestinian territories.
The Islamic organization called for implementation of the 4th Geneva Convention of war criminals and bringing to trial Israeli officials for war crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
It demanded the international security council to coerce Israel pull out its troops from the occupied Palestinian lands and provide protection for the Palestinian people.
