IRAN: NUKE DEVELOPMENT ON SCHEDULE

IRAN NUCLEAR: TEHRAN MAKES PROGRESS IN ATOMIC WORK, REPORT

Tehran, 25 Oct. (AKI) - Iran has made significant progress in sensitive nuclear work the international community fears is aimed at building atomic weapons, Tehran's students' news agency ISNA reported on Wednesday quoting an anonymous official. The official was quoted as saying that Iran had started a second cascade of centrifuges two weeks ago just as the UN Security Council is preparing to discuss sanctions against Iran after the country ignored a 31 August deadline demanding that it halt sensitive uranium enrichment work.

"We will exploit the new product from the injection," ISNA quoted the official as saying, meaning that Iran would use the enriched uranium obtained by inserting gas into the centrifuges. Uranium enrichment can produce material for nuclear power reactors or weapons.
