What has Iran done?!?

1) Blew off the Security Council's demand to halt the enrichment of uranium.
2) 1979 assault & invasion of the American Embassy in Tehran, as well as holding American hostages for over a year.
3) Created & funded Hiz b'allah, which in 1983 bombed U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut Lebanon, killing 220 U.S. Marines and 21 others U.S. Military personnel.

Khatami the Moderate, NOT ! ! !

1) Elected after the ayatollahs disqualified 234 potential competitors.
2) Khatami stated the following: "only those who have attended religious seminaries should have a voice in government"
3) He oversaw the creation of Hiz b'allah (yes, the Hiz b'allah mentioned above that was responsible for the attack on the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut Lebanon).
4) During the recent Israeli v. Hiz b'allah conflict, Khatami remarked that Hiz b'allah was "a shining sun that illuminates and warm the hearts of all Muslims".
5) In 1998, Khatami's intelligence agents murdered Darioush and Parvaneh Forouhar of the liberal opposition.
6) 1999, during Khatami's rule students at the Tehran University were attacked, several killed and many were arrested and tortured (I am sure it was not the Abu Ghraib version of torture which has been shown to be nothing more then the wearing of panties on ones head while naked – Ohhhh the humiliation ! ! ! – I bet Nick Berg would have thanked his lucky stars of that is the only thing that would have befallen him).
7) Khatami shut down 85 newspapers and jailed scores of journalists.
8) Religious minorities were also severely prosecuted while Khatami the Moderate was in office.
9) Pushed the Iranian Nuclear Program into the fast lane.

What have WE done in response?!?

GWB:

1) Condemned Tehran for
a. Sponsorship of Islamic Terror
b. Domestic Repression
c. Violent Rhetoric
2) September 2001 the rhetoric consisted of: "any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime."
3) GWB said that Iran was part of the "Axis of Evil"

State Department:

1) During Khatami's time in office the U.S. State Department pointed to Iran and identified them as the foremost sponsor of terrorism in the world.
2) U.S. State Department issues a visa so Khatami can come to the United States of America in order to spread propaganda according to the Ayatollah's and this is what they have to say for themselves:
a. ``We recognize that former President Khatami headed a regime that is a leading sponsor of terrorism (and) human rights abuses, and presided over Iran's secret nuclear program which is now the focus of possible UN action. After careful deliberation, however, we determined that issuing Mr. Khatami a limited visa, and allowing Mr. Khatami to present his views directly to the American people, will demonstrate to Iran that the United States upholds its commitment to freedom and democracy."

The American people, the United States of America, the world's one and only hyper-puissance, the world's most powerful nation has to convince some run of the mill two bit terrorist dictator that WE uphold our commitments to freedom and democracy.
