THEY HAVE BEEN RE-EDUCATED ! ! !

Statements made by Lars Hedegaard, columnist for Berlingske Tidende & former editor of Information was involved in a national hubbub for being a co-author of "In the House of War: Islam's Colonization of the West". His career has not been the same since...

Anyhooo, this is what he had to say:

"Hedegaard was of the view, however, that the Danish establishments' benign neglect of Islamic extremism must have deeper causes than snobbism or hippie nostalgia. After all, he said, the Islamicization of the Nordic countries was "the most fundamental transformation" they'd experienced in a millenium. Something so monumental, in his opinon cound not be explained simply by a few people's foolishness or class snobbery. "Heavy Consequences," he insisted "must have heavy causes." The surrender of Denmark to Muslims had to be the result of some deep seated compulsion.
Brix interjected that Danes, historically, "bargain with the enemy." They did it with Nazis, and in earlier centuries they'd done it with one conquering army after another. Hedegaard agreed: "You try to accomodate an enemy that is so much stronger than you." But for him this Denmark-specific explanation, too, was insufficient. His theory was that Western Europe's ongoing surrender to radical Islam had its roots in the psychic devastation of the First World War. For while that conflict marked America's ascent to the rank of Great Power, Europeans took it as a devastating proof, Hedegaard said, "the our culture was worthless. It was basically destroyed. And that prepared the way for two sorts of totalitarianism"-Nazism and Communism-and for "atrocities of a magnitude that is hard to imagine." Those atrocities, in turn, places upon Europeans an unbearable burden of guilt. The Nazis, he said, "made Europe think it is doomed and sinful...and deserves what it has coming."
"But the Danes have less to be ashamed of than any people in Europe," I protested. "They saved the Jews."
"Yes, they saved the Jews. But I doubt they would do it today. They've been reeducated." If, at some time in the not-too-distant future, fundementalist Muslims began rounding up Jews, he said, "it would be racism to resist."
At first blush, it may sound preposterous-the idea that native Europeans, after enough daily doses of anti-Semitic and pro-Muslim propaganda, might reach a point at which they'd actually accept Muslims' right to execute Jews, or feel they had no right to stop it. But it's not a scenario that can be dismissed with a wave of the hand. Anyone who considers Hedegaard's scenario far-fetched need only recall the history of twenties century Europe. For Europeans to reach the point of accepting (again) the mass murder of Jews, what's required isn't a murderous anti-Semitisim on their part, only that certain already well-developed attitudes-a reflexive inclination to appease, a readiness to "understand" suicide bombers, a susceptibility to victim rhetoric from aggressors, and a desparate eagerness to applaud "the good side" of terrorist organizations like Hamas & Hezbollah-continue to develop in the direction they're already moving."
