Islamic Jihad renews rocket attacks on Israel
GAZA, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Saraya al-Quds, armed wing of Islamic Jihad (Holy War) in Gaza, said on Sunday that its militants launched nine homemade rockets into the southern Israeli towns of Sderout and Ashkelom.
"Our Mujahidin (Holy fighters) launched this morning four medium-range al-Quds rockets at Sderout and five rockets of the same kind at Ashkelon," said the group in a leaflet faxed to reporters.
"The Israeli occupation forces confessed that one of our rockets hit the college of Sabir in the center of Sderout," it added.
Israeli Radio quoted security sources as saying that a homemade projectile fired from Gaza hit the Sabir college in the town of Sderout, causing big damages to one of the buildings but no casualties.
"The rockets attacks are a natural Palestinian response to the policy of assassinations practiced by Israel against our people round the clock," the group defended its attacks on Israel in the leaflet.
