IRAN: LEBANON MAY BE THE RECIPIENT OF ANTI-AIRCRAFT WEAPONS

Iran May Supply Lebanon With Anti-Aircraft Weapons

Cairo, Egypt - Iran has announced it is prepared to deliver anti-aircraft weapons to the Lebanese armed forces. Tehran's ambassador to Lebanon was quoted in the state-run IRNA agency on Sunday as saying it is a possibility.

"Iran is ready to supply modern anti-aircraft arms to Lebanon," Iranian ambassador Mohamed Reza Sheibani said after talks with Lebanon's army chief Michel Sleiman late Saturday in Beirut.

The announcement comes as Israel continues to conduct overflights of Lebanese airspace including the nation's capital, which the United Nations peacekeeping forces in the nation have said violate the August 14 ceasefire agreement that ended a month-long war between Hezbollah and Israel.

The United States has accused Iran of supplying arms and financial support to the Shiite group, but Tehran has continually denied such allegations.

Lebanon's army has said it was in the market for anti-aircraft and anti-tank weaponry.

The Iranian ambassador also called on "Lebanese political groups to maintain their unity to foil plots," the IRNA reported from Beirut.

WOW, those VERBAL accusations must really force the ayatollah's of Iran to quake in their Persian slippers...

What is the United States going to do?!? They are going to huff and puff and write a resolution?!?
